Degradation of Premature-miR-181b by the Translin/Trax RNase Increases Vascular Smooth Muscle Cell Stiffness
In this study, we have used vascular smooth muscle cell cultures to demonstrate that TN/TX activation elicits cell stiffening by decreasing miR-181b levels and promoting TGF-β signaling. Furthermore, genetic inactivation of the TN/TX RNase in vivo blocks HSW-induced or ageassociated aortic stiffening.
